Bus terminal project gets community backing

Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority has secured stakeholder backing for transformation of Ketu Lay-by (Demurin bound) into a modern bus terminal, to ease congestion and improve commuter experience along the Ketu corridor.

Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Transportation, Olawale Musa, said the pact was reached at a meeting with leaders of Agboyi-Ketu, where plans for the Quality Bus Corridor Package 1 were finalised.

Musa, represented by Director of Transport Policy and Coordination, Aderounmu Agbomeji, said the terminal on Ketu–Alapere–Akanimodo corridor would address traffic snarls and create a more organised and safer space.

He stressed success of the project would depend on sustained collaboration between government and community.
According to him, a formal agreement will be signed to ensure adherence to operational guidelines, including relocation of traders from road setbacks to market stalls to improve safety and traffic flow.

He added non-regulated transport operators would operate within approved loading and off-loading zones to prevent a recurrence of gridlock.
