Who we Are
ITS Nigeria is the common name for ITS Technology Network; an organization registered under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a company limited by guarantee. We are a not-for-profit public/private sector association financed by members’ subscriptions and we provide a forum for all organisations interested in ITS with the aim of promoting the benefits and adoption of Intelligent Transport Systems in Nigeria. We are affiliated to The Network of National ITS associations; the umbrella international organization representing the interest of ITS industry and players worldwide.
Our local membership base is drawn from both public and private sector organizations with an interest in different areas of transportation. Specifically, within ITS Nigeria membership we have government institutions at federal, state and local government levels, research and academic institutes, consultancies, IT companies, manufacturing companies, service providers, telecom companies, systems integrators, transport operators and other organizations with interest in transport.
Members benefit from ITS Nigeria’s activities including local and international seminars, workshops and regular news dissemination including procurement opportunities. ITS Nigeria encourages discussion on issues such as public/private co-operation, standards, legislation, information provision and new technology.
We work to bring the benefits that ITS can offer in terms of economic efficiency, transport safety, and environmental benefits to Nigeria while also working towards the growth and expansion of the local ITS market.
Furthermore, we have memorandum of understanding in place with individual ITS organizations in America, Australia, Europe and Asia to foster progress and to open up international partnerships, knowledge sharing, markets and other opportunities to our Nigeria membership base.
What We Do
Being an organization of seasoned local and international industry players, we aim to advice government on ITS policy and regulatory matters in a way that encourages a more coherent approach to safer, better, more reliable journeys which in turn will support sustainable economic growth and the realization of better value from public investments in transport.
Promote the benefits of Intelligent Transport Systems which includes a wide range of applications that process and share information to ease congestion, improve traffic management, minimize stops and delays at intersections.

We raise the awareness of ITS and provide local and international networking opportunities through periodic newsletters, conferences, workshops, seminars and engaging the media on the use of ITS in transport.

As an organized industry platform, we promote the interest of Nigeria ITS stakeholders thus expanding opportunities by increasing customer base both within Nigeria and internationally.
Our Strategy
The mission and aims are achieved by:
Drawing together active players and interested parties, by means of targeted Interest Groups, Task Forces and other fora, to lead the debate about and knowledge of ITS deployment.
Providing other membership benefits and services sufficient to attract and retain high membership uptake across all categories of ITS practitioners and stakeholders.
A Chairman and Vice Chairman, committed to the ITS Nigeria Mission and holding senior positions in the ITS sector.
Adopting and maintaining high national profile and influence and an international reputation through.

Educating and informing, in an accessible way, practitioners and stakeholders both within and beyond the current ITS community.

Promoting participation in targeted international activities such as ITS World Congresses and other regional ITS conferences such as ITS Europe.
Identifying, brokering and commissioning research unlikely otherwise to be commissioned on issues relevant to ITS deployment.
Developing, maintaining and promoting leading edge ITS seminars and documentation, demonstrating best practice, forethought and relevant case studies and indicating the economic, social and environmental contribution of ITS to transport policy.
