The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) said it would operate three train trips on the Lagos-Ibadan corridor on Monday, March 23, 2026, following increased passenger traffic recorded during the Eid-el-Fitr travel period.
The corporation said the additional service is to ease the movement of commuters returning to their destinations after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
Under the arrangement, departures from the Lagos end at Mobolaji Johnson Station, Ebute Metta, would be at 7:45 am, 1:40 pm, and 4:00 pm, while trains from the Ibadan end at Obafemi Awolowo Station, Moniya, would depart at 8:00 am, 10:50 am, and 4:30 pm.
The NRC said the decision is in response to rising passenger demand during festive periods, particularly along the busy Lagos-Ibadan corridor, which has continued to serve as a major mobility link between the two cities.
It assured passengers of its commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient rail transport, urging travellers to arrive early at the stations and comply with ticketing and security procedures.
