African Transport Ministers to Attend International Railway Conference in Abuja On Tuesday

Ministers of Transport from African nations Nigeria inclusive alongside top railway firms are billed to attend an international railway conference between November 15th and 16th at the Abuja Convention and Trade Centre.

The second railway conference to be hosted by the Nigerian Ministry of Transportation in partnership with the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and African Railway Consulting Limited has as its theme: “Powering AFCFTA with Sustainable Railway Development”

Ministers who have confirmed attendance include the Ministers of Transportation of Algeria, Tunisia, Guinea, Chad, and Niger republics. Ten other countries are sending top officials while an investment delegation is coming from the United States.

Amongst the top companies that have confirmed attendance are; Team Engineering Limited, Mota-Engil, CCECC, and Veritas.

Sub-national governments of up to 15 have confirmed participation while rail professionals from local and global sectors are participating in the hybrid event.

The first day of the conference is billed to host two sessions while the second day of the conference is devoted to a tour of railway facilities and stations. The Nigerian Minister of Transportation is to lead the participants and fellow ministers on the facility tour.

Speaking at the conference, the CEO of African Railway Consulting Limited (AFRICA), Mr. Olawale Rasheed described the event as, “timely as it will address the place of the railway as a facilitating platform for inter-African trade.

”This is the second edition and it is taking place within the context of commendable happenings within African railway. We have a number of ministers already confirming attendance alongside several big companies. Abuja is indeed ready to host railway professionals and policymakers from all over the world.
