As part of efforts to open up the state and create economic prosperity for citizens, the Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, said his administration will embark on the construction of rail lines from Calabar to the Northern part of the state within the lifespan of his administration.
Otu gave this hint while addressing the press on the sectoral accomplishments and plans made by his administration within his first 100 days in office.
He noted that on completion, rail transportation would provide reliable, standardized, and efficient transport services that are expected to transform the state’s economy.
He disclosed that the Cross River government said it has acquired a technology that would identify the whereabouts of kidnappers in any part of the state.
The governor said that his administration had invested substantially to stem rising insecurity in the state before he assumed power on May 29, 2023.
He said he has decided to clamp down on kidnappers, cultists, and armed robbers, since many have taken advantage of the window of amnesty he granted when he took office.
