The Taraba State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has resolved to reduce road crashes to the barest minimum in the state.
Speaking to newsmen on Friday in Jalingo, the Sector Commander, Abdulmaliq Bello, said his major priority in the state is to ensure that road casualties are reduced and if possible, brought to an end.
He said, “Where accidents will result in no death is what I am fighting for, there may be crashes, fine but they should not result in death”.
Bello said the command has succeeded in enforcing Speed Limit Devices, which he said have yielded positive results.
He said a special team deployed to the command has taken it upon themselves to visit the various motor parks daily to enlighten motorists on the need to drive with care to avoid road mishaps.
Also admitting that the Nigerian roads are littered with potholes, he said the availability of speed limit signs on highways is enough to prevent drivers from overspending.
”The ongoing enlightenment campaign by the command has yielded positive results; to be honest, road crashes have reduced in the state.”
