Nigeria’s Air Peace Will Operate Flights To London Gatwick With Norse Atlantic Boeing 787s

Norse will be using Air Peace’s slots at London Gatwick Airport (LGW) to connect LGW and Lagos, Nigeria.

Norse Atlantic Airways and Air Peace, a Nigeria-based airline, have signed an aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI) agreement, with the former operating routes on behalf of the latter between the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

According to Norse, the two airlines’ initial agreement will last two months and start in April 2024. The long-haul low-cost carrier will operate four flights a week between London Gatwick Airport (LGW) and Lagos Murtala Mohammed Airport (LOS) on behalf of the African airline.

The Norway-based airline will be using Air Peace’s LGW slots to operate the route with its Boeing 787 aircraft, with both carriers saying there is an opportunity to turn the initial two-month charter operation into a long-term agreement.

Bjørn Tore Larsen, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Norse, said that the airline was thrilled to work with Air Peace to launch flights between London and Lagos, noting that this represents an exciting opportunity to leverage Norse’s experience in charter operations to deliver high-quality service to Air Peace’s customers.

Meanwhile, Allen Onyema, the chairman and CEO of Air Peace, added that the airline was delighted to work with Norse to commence its flights to London, the UK. Onyema expressed confidence in the partnership, which will only position Air Peace to surpass its customers’ expectations and offer them a superior passenger experience.

By April 2024, the situation had not changed much, except that Air Peace had already filed its schedules on the LGW – LOS route. The African airline will still be competing with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, with the two airlines deploying their Airbus A330, A350-1000, and Boeing 787-10 aircraft between the two cities.
