Road Construction: Umahi Charges FERMA On Use Of Concrete Technology

September 7, (THEWILL) – Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has directed officials of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) that henceforth intervention on roads would be done using concrete technology to ensure durability.

The Minister gave the directive while inspecting some failed portions of the Afikpo-Abakaliki Road on Thursday.

According to Umahi, if earlier repairs of the road were done using concrete technology, there would not have been problems.

Umahi tersely said, “Henceforth, you will start to do your interventions on concrete. I want you to get back to me from Monday on getting the China Civil Construction Company of Nigeria back to the site. If these emergency repairs were done on concrete, we would not have had these problems,” he stated.
