Relentless about putting Lagos State on the global travel map with attractive tourists attractions, Thesaurus Group Limited (TGL), in partnership with the state government has unveiled the Tour Of Omu Creek (TOOC), a waterway where both residents and visitors all over the world can commute faster whilst experiencing the beautiful ambiance of the city.
In his remark during the official launch of TOOC last weekend in Lagos, the Managing Director (MD) of Thesaurus Group Limited, Bolaji Olasode, said the initiative is a celebration of public-private partnership on sustainable growth and development of infrastructure.
“We are partnering with Lagos State based on Governor Babajide Sanwoolu T.H.E.M.E.S agenda that represents the six pillars of the State’s strategic development agenda, namely: Traffic Management and Transportation, Health and Environment, Education and Technology, Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, Entertainment and Tourism, as well as Security and Governance. This is why we launched the Tour of Omu Creek where people can see the wonderful ambiance of Lagos. We also have the conventional ferry movement from here to any part of Lagos. Our development guide and investment span across housing development, transportation, environment, and development of tourism along the Sangotedo axis.”
Olasode further said with TOOC, people can commute on our Jetty opposite Crown estate to see the beautiful Creek of Omu and from there to Ilashe and Ekpe and other areas of Lagos State.
“We are also partnering with BCIS Gardens Lekki and other resorts in order for people to have a real-time experience of Lagos waterways and revel in its beauty.”
He continued: “The boats come with a tracking device such that you can see the movement of the boats on the water. We also have an emergency rescue mission, in case there are any boating mishaps, they would come and intervene. This is also coming with our security personnel on board. Our security personnel is going to ensure the safe movement of people across the creek. Our operations have started; you can go to our website for your bookings. We are taking off with three boats, but we intend to improve from time to time.”
We also have provisions for working clients. We have our sales representatives and Jetty managers that would upload their information on the server so that we can track who is coming onboard our boats and also run background checks for security purposes.”
He, however, noted that TGL’s next project would be to build a world-class Pelican resort at Sangotedo.
“The facilities include a Creek lounge, a floating lounge, and an aquatic conservation center for the preservation of exotic and rare fishes in the Omu Creek.”
Olasode further said one of the core potentials that people are yet to explore is aquaculture.
“This is where the world is driving to and we know that conventionally people have been practicing fish farming and other kinds of aquatic business, but we are looking for a way that we are not only going to be the platform, but we would also create an interface for investors to come and invest in Aquaculture.”
The event was graced by high-profile personalities such as the Deputy Speaker of Lagos State House Of Assembly, Lagos Island Constituency, Honourable Wasiu Eshilokun; Representative of Lagos State Governor, Patron of APC campaign, Prince Tajuseen Olusi, Chairman of Eti-Osa Local Council Development Area LCDA, John Ogundare, representatives from National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) amongst others.
