ITS Nigeria Webinar Spring 2024

We are delighted to announce a call for paper submissions for an upcoming webinar on “Policy Strategies for Effective ITS Deployment in Nigeria with Focus on Smart Cities and Future Mobility.” This webinar seeks to explore the critical role of policies and strategies in facilitating the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) within the context of urban landscape and future mobility aspirations in Nigeria/ Africa.

Nigeria, like many rapidly urbanizing countries, faces significant transportation challenges, including congestion, inadequate infrastructure, funding, and safety concerns. It is important that getting more from available transport assets must be part of the solution and hence the need to expand the exploration of smart solutions. As the country strives towards building smart cities and enhancing future mobility, the effective deployment of ITS becomes paramount. This webinar aims to delve into the policies and strategies that can help accelerate the adoption and integration of ITS technologies in Nigeria.

We invite Policy Makers, ITS Professionals, Transport Professionals, Researchers, Urban planners, and the general public interested in Intelligent Transport Systems to submit papers/presentations that address one or more of the following themes:

• Policy frameworks and regulatory mechanisms for promoting ITS adoption and implementation in Nigerian cities.
• Strategies for integrating ITS technologies with existing transportation infrastructure in Nigeria.
• Governance models and institutional arrangements for coordinating ITS deployment efforts at the national, state, and local levels.
• Financing mechanisms and public-private partnerships to support ITS initiatives in Nigeria.
• Case studies and best practices of successful ITS deployment projects in Nigerian urban environments.
• Evaluating the socio-economic and environmental impacts of ITS deployment on Nigerian cities.
• Future trends and innovations in ITS policies and strategies tailored to the Nigerian context.
