Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) held a stakeholders engagement meeting with project-affected persons (PAP) on Phase 1 of the Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) project.
The delegation led by Engr. Olufemi Fayombo met with residents potentially impacted by the project. He assured them the government would only take the minimal space required for construction based on the approved design.
This engagement session comes ahead of the project’s kickoff between Q2 & Q3 2024. The QBC initiative aims to improve public transportation by rehabilitating existing bus stops, introducing walkways to promote non-motorized transport, and implementing an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) for better traffic management.
QBC 1 focuses on the Yaba, Lawanson, Ijesha, and Cele corridors, covering a distance of 8.6 kilometers. During the meeting at the Mushin Local Government MD Global Impact, Dr. Babatunde Osho announced that the revalidation and valuation process for the project-affected residents will begin this Friday.
Other officials at the engagement included Mrs. Adebisi Aderinto (representing the Mushin LG Chairman), Hon. Olanrewaju Bamigboye, Engr. Ochie Kemi, Engr. Kayode Sallu, Mrs Adeyinka Ajai, and Mrs Ibiroke Omorhirhi.
