Automobiles and Road Safety Initiative, a non-governmental organization, has honoured The Guardian with the Outstanding News Media Coverage of the Year for the Automobile Industry award.
The award was presented yesterday, at the 10th year anniversary and second yearly Nigeria Automotive Industry award in Lagos.
Speaking on the award, the President of the organization, Samuel Oriowo, described the medium as being an outstanding brand at the forefront of delivering automotive news to readers.
He said the board of trustees of the Automobiles and Road Safety Initiative established the award to celebrate and reward the best performance and the brightest of the Nigeria Automotive Industry stakeholders.
Oriowo said in the near future, the board of trustees will lay much emphasis on moves by the government towards making vehicles last through the provision of motorable, vehicle-worthy roads to motorists across the country.
He added that the issue of vehicles being roadworthy should be de-emphasized for motorable roads worthy for vehicles because many roads across the country are in bad shape.
