The Ogun State Government and Arise Integrated Industrial Platform (AIIP) have discussed modalities for the establishment of a parking facility for containers and trailers within its Special Agro Processing Zone (SAPZ).
AIIP’s Vice President and Country Head, Suren Abeywickrema disclosed the plan at a session with journalists at the Government House, Abeokuta shortly after a meeting with the state governor, Mr. Dapo Abiodun on Friday.
At the session, Abeywickrema disclosed that SAPZ’s construction would begin in a few weeks’ time, adding that the company had begun the process of recruiting workers for the zone.
He said: “We are here to have a progress review of the investment center project which we are doing in Ogun State. We are doing a couple of projects. We are having a parking facility for containers and trailers.
“We are discussing with the government. We have just updated the governor on the progress made so far. We are about to start the construction, and we have already started to recruit some of the people,” the vice president said.
Abeywickrema also disclosed that about 25 investors from the United States have shown interest in the Agro Processing Zone.
He disclosed that the company has applied for the Free Trade Zone license from the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, saying the initial technical assessment form had been completed.
AIIP’s President, Gangan Gupta alongside Governor Abiodun performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the development of the Ogun State Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone at the Agro Cargo Airport.
